Lesson: Prayer - March 22, 2020

Prayer is talking to God. There are lots of examples of ways to pray, but in this story, we’ll hear about Praise (2 Chronicles 20), Repentance (Psalm 51), Asking (I Samuel 1) and listening (1 Samuel 3), because that reminds us to Yield to God. (P.R.A.Y. Get it?).

2. Why do we Pray?

3. How do we Pray?

All lesson videos on prayer were created by Crossroad Kids Club.

Family Conversation:

Why do you think God wants us to talk to him?
What do you think God wants us to talk to him about?
What are some things that might seem weird or maybe even “off limits” to talk to God about?
Where are some strange (but totally okay) place to talk to God?

Practice the Lord's Prayer together:

Jesus taught the disciples how to pray. He gave them a simple guideline and reminded them that God already knows what you’re thinking. And no matter what it is, He loves when you reach out in prayer. (Matthew 6:7-13)

PRAY ALOUD:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
     hallowed be thy Name,
     thy kingdom come,
     thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
     as we forgive those
         who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
     but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
     for ever and ever.
Amen.

FAMILY CHALLENGE:

Try memorizing the Lord’s Prayer this week. It may seem hard, but we think you can do it!
Consider breaking it up into sections each day to rehearse with your kids.
