WORSHIP:

LESSON: Re-creation

God promised to create a new world for his family. It will be so perfect and joyful, we will forget all the pain we experience now. We don't know exactly what it will be like, but God gives us an idea in
Isaiah 65:17, Romans 8:18-25, 1 Corinthians 15:24-28, 42-58, and Revelation 1, 5, and 21-22.

FAMILY CONVERSATION: K-6TH

1. Why is God going to make the world new (re-create it)?
2. What is the new world going to be like? (Give kids time to remember as much as they can. Here are some things they may say: always happy, safe, joyful, loved; no hunger, war, sickness or anything else bad; Jesus is on the throne, the city sparkles and is made of jewels, streets are made of gold, always shining like a sunny day, etc. Remind them of the BEST PART: We get to walk and talk with God!)
3. How is this different than the world we live in today?
4. What’s God’s plan to “cure” our “sick” world, full of wrong things?
5. What do you think it will be like to live with God?
6. What are you most excited about?

Pray together thanking God that he has such great plans for us, now and in the future.

FAMILY CHALLENGE: read and memorize isaiah 65:17-19

Ask: How do we know the new world will be so great?

  • Well, one of God’s followers in the Old Testament, Isaiah, talks about a vision God gave him of what this world will look like!

Isaiah 65:17-19 Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth—so wonderful that no one will think about the old ones anymore. Be glad. Rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness. Her people will be a source of joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard no more.

  • This is for all “God’s people” which means his WHOLE family! We’ll never cry, because nothing bad will happen, ever. In fact, the new world God creates will be SO great… that we won’t even remember everything wrong that happened here, in the old one.

MEMORIZE: Isaiah 65:17-19
