WORSHIP:
LESSON: Jesus’ Rescue
God wants to be a father to us and he's made it possible through the sacrifice of Jesus. Jesus' rescue is an amazing part of God's story and is referenced throughout the Bible. Today's story focuses on what happened after Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Read Luke 24

FAMILY CONVERSATION: PRE-K
1. Where were Jesus’ friends when He appeared to them? (in a house with the doors locked)
2. What was the first thing Jesus said to His friends? (Peace to you!)
3. What did Jesus show His friends so they would know it was really Him? (His hands and His side)
4. What did Jesus send out His friends to do? (tell all people that He is alive)
5. Who saves us from our sin? Jesus saves us from sin.
Pray together, thanking God for his rescue plan of Jesus and ask God to help us share the good news of His rescue plan!
FAMILY CONVERSATION: K-6TH
1. What did the disciples think Jesus was when He first appeared to them? (a ghost, Luke 24:37)
2. How did Jesus show that He is alive? (He invited His disciples to touch His hands and feet, and He ate with them)
3. What job did Jesus give His disciples? (tell people the news of Jesus’ death and resurrection)
4. What can we do when we read something in the Bible that we don’t understand? Remind kids that when Jesus met with the disciples, Jesus taught that all the Scriptures point to Him. He opened the disciples’ eyes so they realized who He was. When we don’t understand something about God, we can pray and ask God to open our eyes and help us understand. The Holy Spirit gives us understanding. God also gives us other people and resources to help us see what is true about God and about ourselves.
Pray together, thanking God for his rescue plan of Jesus and ask God to help us share the good news of His rescue plan!
FAMILY activity
younger kids:
Throw a “Jesus Is Alive” family dance party. Laugh, dance, and sing songs to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. Remind kids that the disciples were so happy to see Jesus.
Older kids:
Practice sharing the gospel: The good news of Jesus Christ
Who at your school, on your sports team, or in your family needs to hear that Jesus died on the cross to rescue people from sin and is alive today? Guide kids to think about people they know who may not know Jesus. Remind them that Jesus taught us to share the gospel with everyone we meet. Even people who already know Jesus can benefit from hearing the good news again and again.
How would you tell that person about Jesus in your own words? Guide kids through sharing the gospel. Encourage them to practice what they might say. You may use the gospel plan as guidance, click here.
How do you feel when you think of sharing the good news of Jesus with others? Allow kids to be honest. If they are excited, affirm them. If they are scared or worried to share, still affirm them and help them understand that Jesus gives His followers a Helper, the Holy Spirit. It is OK to be afraid, and they can ask for help from the Holy Spirit
